Initiation Workshops
Description
Welcoming more than 15,000 young people per year, our initiation workshops target groups from the school system. In 10 years, these circus workshops have reached more than 100,000 children between the ages of 5 and 16 years.
Circus arts initiation workshops provide an unforgettable experience that initiates young people into circus arts through 8 activities. As such, the children try out acrobatics, trampoline, juggling, trapeze using fabric, balancing on objects, tightrope, the balance beam, as well as human pyramids.
In addition to the fun of being initiated into circus disciplines, children have the opportunity, in an area surrounded with magic mirrors, to have make-up put on them by an animator or a member of their group.
Participants receive technique training determined by their age and physical capacity. Every workshop is safe and supervised by a qualified animator.
Summary of workshops for young people between the ages of 5 and 17
Before the start of the activities, an animator explains and demonstrates the various circus techniques. A 15-minute group warm-up then allows participants to prepare for the activity.
The approximately 20-minutes workshops introduce you to :
- Acrobatics with two areas equipped with mats of different shapes, a mini-trampoline as well as a 15-meters-long “fast track”;
- The trampoline – an opportunity to explore the basic jumps on one of our five devices (this activity requires the collaboration of the participating school);
- Juggling with scarves, balls, hoops, pins, flower sticks, Chinese plates and diabolos, to explore dexterity. An additional challenge awaits those who try the unicycle!
- Aerial techniques on the fixed trapeze using fabric, the slack rope and hoops allow one to defy gravity! Adolescents can try their luck with fabric, hoops and the slack rope. For younger participants, a short obstacle course completes this workshop;
- Balancing, balls, spools and rola-bola, as well as the tightrope and two balance beams of different heights put the participant’s balancing talents to the test!
